Terms
Terms of use
Draft for the private beta — last updated October 10, 2026. This text will be reviewed before the public release.
These terms cover your use of the StudioCat app and this website. By installing or using StudioCat you agree to them.
1. License
During the beta we grant you a free, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use StudioCat on Macs you own or control, for personal or work projects. You may not resell, sublicense or redistribute the app, or remove its notices. Features and terms for paid editions, if any, will be announced separately.
2. You stay in control — and responsible
- StudioCat acts on your Mac only in projects you open and only with the permissions you grant. You decide which projects to open and whether to allow the terminal and commits.
- AI models make mistakes. Review changes, keep your work in version control and keep your own backups. Checkpoints and rollbacks are conveniences, not backups.
- Don't use StudioCat on systems or data you aren't authorized to access, or to break the law.
3. Third-party services
StudioCat works with ChatGPT through OpenAI's developer tools. Your use of ChatGPT and OpenAI Platform is governed by your agreements with OpenAI and their usage policies, which you must follow — including their limits on usage. StudioCat doesn't change those limits and must not be used to get around them. ChatGPT is a trademark of OpenAI; StudioCat is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by OpenAI.
4. Beta
The app is a beta. It may change, break or stop being available, and we may end the beta at any time. Feedback you send may be used to improve the product.
5. No warranty
StudioCat is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the extent the law allows.
6. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, code, profits or business, arising from your use of StudioCat — including changes made or commands run at the request of an AI model. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.
7. Ending
You can stop using StudioCat at any time by uninstalling it. We may end your license if you break these terms.
8. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and continued use means you accept it. The governing law and venue will be stated in the final version. Questions: [email protected].
