Privacy policy
Draft for the private beta — last updated October 10, 2026. This text will be reviewed before the public release.
Short version: the StudioCat app runs on your Mac and doesn't send your code or usage to us. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. The details follow.
Who we are
StudioCat is an independent product. For privacy questions, write to [email protected].
The StudioCat app
- Your projects stay on your Mac. StudioCat reads, edits and runs files locally. It never uploads your repository to us.
- What ChatGPT sees. When ChatGPT calls a StudioCat tool, the result (for example a file excerpt, a diff or command output) is returned to ChatGPT through OpenAI's Secure Tunnel and becomes part of your conversation. That data is processed by OpenAI under your agreement with OpenAI and OpenAI's privacy policy. Choose which projects you open accordingly.
- Credentials. Your tunnel ID, API key and organization ID are stored in your macOS Keychain and used only to connect to OpenAI. We never receive them.
- Local records. Settings, permissions, a log and an audit log of allowed and denied calls are kept in
~/.cache/StudioCat/on your Mac. Conversation identifiers are stored only as one-way hashes. - No telemetry. The app sends no analytics or usage data to us. If a future version offers optional diagnostics or crash reports, they will be off until you turn them on, and this page will list exactly what they contain.
- Updates. Once automatic updates ship with signed releases, the app will check for them by downloading an update feed from studiocat.app. Like any web request, this reveals your IP address and app version to the server; we won't use it to identify you.
This website
- No cookies, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party scripts or fonts.
- The site is delivered through Cloudflare and our hosting provider. They process standard request data (such as IP address, user agent and time) to deliver and protect the site, and may keep short-lived logs.
- If you email us (for example to request beta access), we keep your email address and message to reply and to send you the beta link. We don't sell or share it. Ask us any time to delete it.
Your choices
- Remove credentials in Settings → Remove; delete local data by removing
~/.cache/StudioCat/. - Revoke the API key in OpenAI Platform and remove the MCP server in ChatGPT to disconnect completely.
- Email us to access, correct or delete anything you sent us.
Changes
We'll update this page when anything changes and note the date at the top.
